Randomness from a Republican Mind

By sydney@alias | June 26, 2008

I’m rather late reporting on the excitement that was the 2008 Montana Republican State Convention… I had heard most of the candidates speak at one time or another so the highlight had to have been seeing Ron Paul in action. I had to keep alternating between a thumbs up and a crazy sign near my temple. I have problems with his foreign policy, but much of what he says is completely true if unattainable. That dinner was packed, and I spotted Koopman in attendance, though he seemed to avoid the rest of the convention. Hmmm… Any thoughts as to why?

Now for today’s decision to uphold our God given right to own a firearm. It’s a sad sign of our times that the decision was so close. A law abiding citizen even in Montana has to jump through hoops to buy a handgun, and we have relatively liberal gun laws here. To those who don’t believe in an individual right to bear arms, I only have one question- how do you plan on retaining all your other precious rights once you are disarmed? Hitler also believed in gun control.
